Overview

AIGP certifies that you understand how to establish and run AI governance across an organization: the principles, the risk management, the laws and standards, and the controls that keep AI systems lawful, safe, and trustworthy. It is written for the professional who has to make AI governance work in practice, not just describe it.

Unlike engineering certifications, AIGP sits at the governance and policy layer. It assumes no hands-on machine-learning background and has no prerequisites, which is why the candidate pool is broad: privacy and compliance leaders, risk managers, lawyers, product owners, and technologists all sit it. About a third of the exam is tied to case studies, so it rewards applied judgment over memorization.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the AIGP certification?

AIGP, the Artificial Intelligence Governance Professional, is a certification from the IAPP for professionals who develop, deploy, and govern AI systems responsibly. It validates a working command of AI governance principles, risk management, and the laws, standards, and frameworks shaping trustworthy AI.

Are there prerequisites for AIGP?

No. AIGP has no documented education or experience prerequisite to sit or hold it. That is one reason the candidate pool is broad, spanning privacy, compliance, risk, legal, product, and technology roles.

How many questions is the AIGP exam and how long is it?

The exam has 100 questions (85 scored and 15 unscored) and runs three hours, plus an optional 15-minute break. It is delivered as multiple choice.

What is the passing score for AIGP?

Scores are reported on a scaled range of 100 to 500, and the passing (cut) score is 300. The scaled score is not a simple percentage of correct answers.

How much of the exam is case-study based?

About 30 percent of the exam is tied to case studies, so it rewards applied governance judgment rather than memorization alone.

How should I prepare for AIGP?

Study the IAPP AIGP Body of Knowledge and Exam Blueprint, and use official IAPP training and reputable published study guides. Do not rely on braindump sites; they violate exam rules and are often inaccurate.
