INFORMATION SECURITY SPECIALIST

THIS IS AN INDIANA NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 5 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION This position is in the Excepted Service under the authority of Title V, P.L. 114-328, Sections 932 and 1084 (FY17 NDAA) This position is part of the IN 181st Intelligence Wing, Indiana National Guard under Position Description Number PD#T5003000. Qualifications: GENERAL EXPERIENCE: 3 years of progressively responsible experience, 1 year of which was equivalent to at least GS-4, that demonstrates the ability to: Analyze problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions; Plan and organize work; and Communicate effectively orally and in writing. Such experience may have been gained in administrative, professional, technical, investigative, or other responsible work. Experience in substantive and relevant secretarial, clerical, or other responsible work may be qualifying as long as it provided evidence of the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) necessary to perform the duties of the position to be filled. AND SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-11 level in the federal service. Specialized experience is defined as experience applying, interpreting, and adapting established security program policies, procedures, and regulations to resolve conventional security issues. Examples of qualifying experience could include: Independently reviewing and analyzing security problems to recommend corrective actions based on an interpretation of existing policies and regulations; OR Administering a security clearance program (e.g., for SCI) by processing, tracking, and verifying clearances and accesses for personnel; OR Conducting assessments or self-inspections of security programs to ensure compliance with established directives and resolving discrepancies. AND Experience in managing the function of the work to be performed. Experience which includes leading, directing and assigning work of personnel. Must show possession of the knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to fully perform the duties of the position.
