AI policy roles work on the rules themselves, drafting internal AI policy, interpreting fast-moving regulation, and engaging with the public-policy landscape that is rewriting itself in real time. On the corporate side they translate the EU AI Act, NIST, and emerging law into what a company can actually do. On the public side they shape standards, guidance, and legislation. The two sides increasingly talk to each other.

It is one of the newest specialties in the field, sitting where law, governance, and public affairs meet, and demand is climbing as the rulebook for AI takes shape.
