This is Adyen

Adyen is the financial technology platform of choice for leading companies. By providing end-to-end payments capabilities, data-driven insights, and financial products in a single global solution, Adyen helps businesses achieve their ambitions faster. With offices around the world, Adyen works with the likes of Facebook, Uber, H and M, eBay, and Microsoft. To maintain our momentum, we need people to join us in finding new ways of solving our unique challenges.

AML Compliance Officer Customer Risk

A key part of building our business is ensuring we do it ethically, securely, and sustainably. In order to do so, Adyen needs to understand and monitor at all times what happens on our platform and whether this is in line with regulations and our risk appetite. And that in a scalable, automated, and adaptive way.

To achieve this, we are looking for a Compliance Officer to join our AML/CFT Compliance Department based in Amsterdam, covering our global business. In this role, you will be the Second Line expert responsible for driving the strong evolution of Adyen’s Customer Risk and broader CDD Framework.

Sitting in the Second Line of Defense, you will bridge regulatory requirements with technical product execution. You will work directly alongside Product Management, Engineering, and Regulatory teams to design, embed and monitor effectiveness of scalable, data-driven customer risk scoring models that minimize customer friction while ensuring rock-solid regulatory compliance.

Are you a senior specialist who excels at translating complex CDD/KYC regulatory requirements into scalable operating frameworks? Then this is the role for you!

What you ll do

CDD Framework: Drive continuous maturity of Adyen s global CDD framework, translating regulatory expectations and supervisory guidelines (e.g., DNB, EU AML Regulation) into processes and procedures.
Customer Onboarding: Align and evolve Adyen s global CDD procedures, defining baseline Financial Crime data requirements as well as standards for customer onboarding and ongoing review. Support relevant teams in translating it into clear 1st LoD operational guidelines.
Customer Risk Scoring: Support the design and implementation of Adyen s risk-based approach toward customer risks, conducting deep-dive assessments of potential integrity risks across complex business models and platform structures.
Product Collaboration: Partner up with our Product and Engineering teams to translate compliance procedures and risk-scoring logic into scalable, automated customer risk solutions.
Operational Alignment: Support operational execution by designing, refining, and reviewing operational guidelines and 2nd-line oversight mechanisms for customer risk reviews.
Audit and Regulatory Reviews: Support internal audits and regulatory examinations by explaining customer risk scoring logic and CDD framework design.

Who you are

You re a CDD and Customer Risk Expert: You bring 4+ years of hands-on experience in financial crime, CDD/KYC framework design, or customer risk classification within a fast-scaling fintech, tier-1 bank, or specialized compliance practice.
KYC Data and Product Fluency: You understand the mechanics of KYC data requirements. You can discuss data structures, API workflows, and onboarding logic with Product Managers just as comfortably as you discuss regulatory frameworks with senior stakeholders.
Framework Architecture: Experience in building, refining, or operationalizing CDD frameworks, risk-based approaches, or customer risk methodologies in complex organizational setups is a plus.
Strong Project and Stakeholder Management: Excellent organizational skills with a demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, manage stakeholders, and bridge the gap between Product and Tech, Regulatory, and Operations.
Pragmatic and Solution-Oriented: You view compliance as an enabler of sustainable growth, balancing strict regulatory expectations with seamless user experience.
Clear Communication: Fluent in spoken and written English.

Our unique approach is a product of our diverse perspectives. This diversity of backgrounds and cultures is essential in helping us maintain our momentum. About compliance jobs

Compliance programs turn law, regulation, and policy into controls the business can actually run. Demand is strongest where regulatory change, enforcement risk, and new technology intersect. Jobs like this one are typically evaluated against frameworks such as relevant regulatory frameworks, control libraries, and audit and monitoring practices.

How to position yourself for this compliance job

Strong candidates emphasize building and monitoring controls, regulatory mapping, policy and training, and partnering with the business to make compliance practical. In your resume and outreach, tie your experience to how Adyen would apply relevant regulatory frameworks, control libraries, and audit and monitoring practices, and lead with concrete outcomes rather than duties.
