Auditor (Title 5)

This is a Title 5 National Guard Employee position located in the United States Property and Fiscal Office (USPFO), Internal Review Division in Austin, TX. The purpose of the position is to perform audits on a variety of programs and to assess efficiency, effectiveness and compliance with program laws, regulations, and provisions. In a state with 4 or more auditors, serves as an auditor-in-charge of audit programs or difficult audit projects. Texas is one of 9 states with NO state income tax. Specialized Experience Required At least 1-year equivalent specialized experience to at least the next lower grade level (GS-11) with professional knowledge of accounting and auditing concepts, practices, techniques and Comptroller General Standards in order to perform audit assignments, using the most advanced audit techniques. Knowledge of applicable laws and NGB policy, regulations, and guidelines to ensure that audit coverage is appropriate to meet established audit objectives. Ability to plan the audit, gather, organize and evaluate data in complex areas and separate the essential from the non-essential. Skilled in assessing the degree to which program goals are met and to develop findings/reports that clearly identify operational problems and required corrective action. Quality of Experience: Length of time is not of itself qualifying. Candidates' experience should be evaluated on the basis of duties performed rather than strictly on the rank of the individual; however, established compatibility criteria/assignments must be followed for Dual Status Technician positions.
