Join us in the fight to change the rules governing the economy, take back our democracy from Wall Street and Big Tech, and make finance work for us, not against us. Americans for Financial Reform Education Fund (AFREF) is seeking a Senior Policy Analyst or Associate Director for Corporate Governance and Finance to lead our work in this area.

AFREF played a leading role in winning passage of the Dodd Frank financial reform law and the creation of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau and we are driving the fight for broader transformations of the financial system to advance economic, racial, and social justice, and to combat climate change. Right now, we are exposing the risky circular financing fueling the AI bubble, and calling for a dramatic departure from the failed bailout policies of the past should it burst. AFREF’s staff develops policy and strategies in collaboration with a coalition of more than 200 consumer, civil rights, labor, community-based, and other organizations, along with academics and policy experts.

The Senior Policy Analyst/Associate Director portfolio will include work on corporate accountability, corporate finance, and corporate governance. This role will lead efforts to fight back against and elevate alternatives to corporate extraction, speculation, and increasing inequality. It will focus on making the rules that shape corporate and investment decision-making align more with the interests of workers, communities, and a more just and sustainable economy. It will also support efforts to increase workers’ power to shape the uses of their retirement funds. Tracking and understanding developments related to pension funds and asset managers and  maintaining relationships with labor partners and investor advocates are key elements of the role.
