Team / division overview The Deputy Head of AFC Compliance Luxembourg supports the Head of AFC Compliance Luxembourg in providing independent second-line oversight and advisory services across DWS Luxembourg platform, including one of the largest Management Companies in Luxembourg. The role helps ensure that Anti-Financial Crime and Compliance risks are appropriately identified, assessed, governed, reported and remediated in line with Luxembourg, European and DWS internal requirements. The position is fully integrated into the global DWS AFC Compliance organisation and acts as a senior local point of contact for regulators, senior management, boards and internal governance bodies regarding AFC and Compliance matters. Your responsibilities: As our Deputy Head of AFC Compliance, you will: AFC Compliance Framework Support the Head of AFC Compliance Luxembourg in leading and overseeing the local AFC Compliance function for DWS regulated entities in Luxembourg. Act as deputy and senior representative of the function in local governance forums, management committees and board-level interactions, as appropriate. Take on regulated AML-related appointments for Luxembourg investment funds (Fund MLRO) and potentially other regulated entities, including responsibilities associated with applicable Luxembourg AML governance roles, and ensure effective oversight of delegated AML activities where applicable. Ensure effective local implementation and ongoing enhancement of the DWS AFC Compliance Framework. Promote a strong culture of integrity, conduct, compliance and risk awareness across business and infrastructure functions. Advisory Business Partnership Provide proactive AFC Compliance advice and challenge to senior management, business units and infrastructure functions on regulatory and compliance matters. Advise on conflicts of interest, market conduct, cross-border business, marketing and client communications, outsourcing, delegation and oversight arrangements, data handling, conduct risk and emerging regulatory topics. Support strategic and transformational business initiatives, including product, distribution, technology, outsourcing and operational change programmes. Act as AFC Compliance representative in governance forums, business committees and project steering groups where senior second-line input is required. Act as Compliance and AFC representative in board meetings, governance forums, business committees and project steering groups. Compliance Risk Management Monitoring Lead and coordinate Compliance and AFC risk assessments for Luxembourg entities and activities within the DWS Compliance Risk Assessment framework. Assess inherent risks, control effectiveness and residual risk profiles and ensure appropriate documentation and governance. Oversee second-line monitoring and testing activities covering applicable Compliance and AFC risk areas. Review findings, root causes and remediation plans and monitor timely implementation of corrective actions. Ensure appropriate and timely reporting to local and global governance bodies. Anti-Financial Crime Oversee and coordinate local implementation of DWS Anti-Financial Crime requirements, including AML, Counter Terrorist Financing, Sanctions, Anti-Bribery Corruption, Fraud Prevention and Whistleblowing frameworks. Provide senior AFC advice, challenge and oversight regarding financial crime risks, associated controls and remediation activities. Support AFC risk assessments, thematic reviews, audits and regulatory requests where required. Coordinate AFC-related reporting, interactions and remediation activities with local, regional and global stakeholders. Governance Regulatory Engagement Act as a senior AFC Compliance contact for Luxembourg regulators and support regulatory inspections, requests and thematic reviews. Prepare and contribute to board, management and committee reporting for local governance forums and regulated entities. Escalate material AFC Compliance risks, incidents and regulatory matters appropriately within the DWS governance framework. Support the development and maintenance of local policies, procedures and governance documentation. People Leadership, Training Awareness Support day-to-day leadership, prioritisation and development of the Luxembourg AFC Compliance team. Provide guidance and coaching to team members on complex advisory, monitoring, governance and regulatory matters. Deliver AFC Compliance training and awareness initiatives to employees and management. Support a strong compliance culture through communication, engagement and targeted guidance. We are looking for: University degree in Law, Economics, Business Administration, Finance or a related discipline; relevant professional qualifications would be an advantage. Significant professional experience, typically 10 years, within Compliance, Anti-Financial Crime, Legal, Risk or other control functions in the financial services industry. Strong knowledge of Luxembourg and European financial services regulation applicable to asset managers, Management Companies and investment fund activities. Experience interacting with regulators, auditors, senior management, boards and governance committees. Sound understanding of Asset Management, Distribution, Alternatives, Technology Operations and supporting control frameworks. Proven ability to lead, influence and challenge senior stakeholders while maintaining constructive business partnership. Excellent analytical, problem-solving, stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills. Fluent English. German, French or Luxembourgish would be an advantage. Proven ability to leverage AI tools to enhance productivity, optimise workflows to solve business problems, while applying critical judgment to ensure responsible and ethical use of data and AI outputs.
