About the Chief Compliance Officer job
The Chief Compliance Officer is the person who keeps the whole enterprise inside the lines, and takes the call when it does not. The role owns the compliance program end to end: policy, training, monitoring, investigations, and the relationship with regulators. It is deepest in financial services, healthcare, and any business under real regulatory scrutiny, and it is one of the most durable senior seats in GRC.
BLS put the 2024 median at $78,420. In 2026, market trackers show averages from roughly $99,000 to $120,000, with the top quartile above $160,000. Financial centers and senior governance roles sit at the top of that range.
